Kitchen Remodel? Update Your Kitchen Equipment Too

August 31, 2022 by admin Leave a Comment

You’ve reached a time when you can think of the finer things in life, so you started with a kitchen remodel. It looks great! But how well-equipped is it? Maybe it’s time to review your kitchen’s contents and update a few things there, too. It’s not just a matter of looking good, it’s practical too.  Use this article to decide whether it’s time to hit the homeware store!

How Good are Your Knives?

A knife that can cut (or hack) things into bits and a pro chef’s knife are worlds apart. If your knives are good enough, just on the blunt side, try using a sharpening stone to give them a keener edge.

But if the blades are flimsy, the handles clunky, or the action awkward, it may be time to choose something higher-quality. Look out for chefs’ favourites like Wüsthof or Shun – they may be expensive, but they can last a lifetime!

Do You Want to Hide Your Cutting Board?

If the sight of your cutting boards gives you the heebie jeebies, take a closer look. Wooden and bamboo boards are easily refinished, and can get a new lease of life that won’t make them look out of place in your smart new kitchen.

They’re also kind to your knives, look good enough for the dining table and make a handy place to put hot pots or oven dishes straight from the stove or oven.

Are Your Pots and Pans Getting Wonky?

When setting up your first kitchen on a budget, it can be tempting to buy cheap cookware. But, sadly, “cheap” and “good” aren’t always the same things. If your pots and pans are warped and wobbly, distribute heat unevenly, or have shaky or missing handles and lids, it’s time for an upgrade!

Avoid gimmicks and go for sturdy, heavy pots. They take longer to heat then cheaper, thin-gauge counterparts, but they’re much more durable and can really improve both your cooking experience and the results you achieve.

Time to go Pro With Stirring Spoons?

Since you’ve got nice pots, you want to keep them that way. Metal stirring spoons are out. Plastic can work, but you may have heard about BPA leaching out of plastic and posing a potential long-term health risk.

Watch a few cookery shows. What do you see? Wood and bamboo spoons! They look good, and you won’t feel too bad about discarding them after about five years when it’s time to replace them again. After all, they’re biodegradable.

Treat Yourself to Gorgeous Oven Dishes

Isn’t it lovely being able to take a steaming-hot casserole or pasta-bake straight from the oven to the table? If your ovenware doesn’t present well, it’s time to spoil yourself with a set of beautiful ceramic or stoneware dishes.

There are some fabulous designs out there, and their great looks and functional versatility make them regular-use items in any kitchen.

Quality Utensils to Match Your New Kitchen

Smart cooks have smart cooking utensils, and the remodelled kitchen provides the setting where it all happens.

Follow through your kitchen revamp by updating any utensils that don’t match its crisp, professional image.

Now, there’s only one thing left to do, and that’s putting it all to work! Time for the real magic to happen! Bon appetit!
